Walkana Alston Higgins

Walkana Alston Higgins, 84 of Ozark, Arkansas passed away, Sunday, February 22, 2026 in Ozark, Arkansas. She was born January 3, 1942 in Mulberry, Arkansas to William Walker Alston and Hester Mae Oliver Alston. Walkana graduated from Mulberry High School in 1959 and later became the owner of the Hillbilly Quick-Stop in Ozark for 20 years. She was of the Assembly of God faith, a member and a church pianist for the Ozark Assembly of God, and attended the Mulberry Assembly of God many years. She was also a volunteer for the North Franklin County fair board. She loved riding horses and often could be found trail riding with her family and horse buddies. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Donald Wayne Higgins; one sister, Betty Jane Wagner; and one brother-in-law, Cas Wagner. Walkana is survived by one daughter, Ginger Woolsey of Ozark; one son, Scott Higgins and wife Laura of Alma, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Lisa Woolsey of Lexington, Kentucky, Lindsay Carter and husband Charles of Russellville, Arkansas, Leslie Black and husband Cody of Russellville, Jake Higgins of Chicago, Illinois, Maxwell Higgins and wife Alana of Elm Springs, Arkansas, Eric Melton and wife Meisha of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Kaili Donahue and husband Matt of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Alayna Adams and husband Clayton of Fayetteville; and fourteen great grandchildren, Miriam Phwandaphwanda of Fayetteville, Naomi Phwandaphwanda and Esther Phwandaphwanda of Lexington, Kentucky, Milani Carter, Nora Grace Black, Brooks Black, Barron Black, and Amira Carter of Russellville, Magnolia Melton and Murphy Melton of Fayetteville, James Donahue and Susannah Donahue of Tulsa, Fletcher Higgins of Elm Springs, and William Adams of Fayetteville. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the Mulberry First Assembly of God Church, 314 Heard Avenue in Mulberry, with Brother John Kindrix officiating, with burial at New Cemetery, 314 Heard Avenue Mulberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Dewayne Higgins, Brent Higgins, Jeff Brown, Dwight Morse, Rickey Morse, and Kendale Wagner.
