Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Dunn

Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Dunn, age 86, of Hunt Town, Arkansas, was put to rest in God’s Kingdom on, Sunday, June 11, 2023. She was born May 17, 1937 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Virgil William Hoover and Connie Mae Hoover. Kathy graduated in 1955 from Casa Grande High School in Arizona and married the love of her life, JR Dunn in 1956. She wanted a beautiful countryside childhood for their children. Kathy and her husband JR moved their family to Hunt Town where JR had grown up. She tirelessly raised her children with JR, while running a full garden, being a master baker, canner, home manager, fight breaker-upper, feeling-fixer, and an overall kind woman. She had a wonderful sense of humor to match her full, bright laugh and smile. She loved to make jokes with her family and create fun for the children. She encouraged her children to achieve their dreams, and to learn as much as their heads could hold. While raising her children, she always put their needs before hers, making her the ultimate example of selflessness. Her impact will never leave her family, but treasured by all of them. Kathy was the most loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Billy Hoover; and one sister Gwynna Lee. Kathy is survived by her husband of 67 years, JR Dunn; four daughters, Karen Dunn, Susan Beasley, Cynthia Dunn, and Heather Dunn; two sons, Michael Dunn and Steven Dunn; two grandsons, Michael and Kyle; three granddaughters, Cynthia, Katie, and Kayli; and three great-granddaughters, Raegan Kathleen, Lydia, and Riley Mae. Memorial services will be set for a later date. Cremation arrangements were made under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. “My Mother kept a garden. A garden of the heart; She planted all the good things, that gave my life it’s start. She turned me to the sunshine, and encouraged me to dream; fostering and nurturing the seeds of self-esteem. And when the winds and rains came, she protected me enough; but not too much, she knew I’d need to stand up strong and tough. Her constant good example, always taught me right from wrong; markers for my pathway to last my whole life long. I am my Mother’s garden, I am her legacy.
