Loretta Mae Sherman McCollum

Loretta Mae Sherman McCollum, age 85, of Mulberry, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Gore, Oklahoma. She was born March 1, 1939 in Mountainburg, Arkansas to Lelon John Alvia Sherman and Snoe Bell White Sherman. Loretta was of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints faith and a member at the Alma, Arkansas and Gore locations. She was a 1957 graduate of Mountainburg High School and enjoyed playing defense in basketball for the Mountainburg Dragons. She enjoyed fishing, canning, cooking, sewing, and gardening. Loretta loved serving in various teaching positions in church as well as Relief Society president, librarian, a visiting teacher, and served in the temple. Loretta is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William Oliver McCollum; her parents; and one brother, Billy Harrell Sherman. Loretta is survived by one son, Edwin Lydell McCollum and wife Joan of Alma, Arkansas; three daughters, Barbara Hunt and husband Duane of Gore, Oklahoma, Susan Hubler and husband Lynn of Gore, and Melanie Haskell and husband John of Welch, Oklahoma; one brother, Ronald Wayne Sherman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister, Janice Sue Sherman Mills of Alma; thirteen grandchildren, Duane Hunt Jr. and wife Meredith, Amanda Munson and husband Russell, Nathan McCollum and wife Katie, Jacob McCollum and wife Ellen, Joseph McCollum, Bradley Hunt and wife Bethany, Cory Hunt and wife Christen, Lynn Hubler III, Levi Hubler and wife Lindsey, Tabatha Hubler, Julia Hubler and husband Andy Velasquez, Justin Haskell and Austin Haskell; and twenty-five great grandchildren, Duane Hunt III, Benson Hunt, Eli Munson, Van Hubler, Sadie Hunt, Ashlynn Munson, Ethan McCollum, Sallie Hunt, Braden Hunt, Molly McCollum, Ragan Hubler, Aubrey McCollum, Jared McCollum, Breanna Hunt, Ian Munson, Mason Hunt, Clay Hubler, Jonathan McCollum, Alivia Munson, Brynlee Hunt, Natalie Hunt, Anthony McCollum, Cole McCollum, Taylor Hunt and Derek McCollum. Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 201 Canterbury Drive in Alma, Arkansas, with Brother Russell Munson officiating, with burial Oak Bower Cemetery, Highway 215 N Mulberry, Arkansas..
