James "J.T." Thomas Harris

James “J.T.” Thomas Harris, age 75, lifelong resident of Ozark, Arkansas, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 22, 2023 surrounded by his children. He was born October 22, 1947 in Altus, Arkansas to John T. and Ruby Harris in the back seat of their car; which is exactly how he lived his life, outside and in the open. J.T. was an avid hunter and his family knew him as “The Great-White Hunter”. He passed along his hunting knowledge and skills to his children and grandchildren, whom will continue to pass along his knowledge and skills to generations to come. J.T. had to be ‘the man of the house”. His dad passed when he was only eleven years old and it was left up to him to help his momma with the farm duties, all while going to school. He later became a 1965 graduate of Ozark High School. J.T. loved watching the Hillbillies. At football games you could find him sitting in his lawn chair on the concrete steps, visitor side. J.T. is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 40 years, Lana Harris; and one granddaughter, Tori LaNise Harris. J.T. is survived by his children, Angie (Doug) Henslee of Springdale, Arkansas, JaRon (Angela) Harris of Ozark, and JaSon Harris of Ozark, seven grandchildren, Bailey (Zack) Henson of Hartland, Texas, Payton (Morgan) Morris of Springdale, JaRon “Bub” (Alyssa) Harris II of Ozark, Kailen (Jacob) Greigo of Altus, Parker (Brooke) Morris of Springdale, Jaxson Harris of Springdale, Jensen Harris of Scranton, Arkansas; three bonus granddaughters; one special nephew, James (Cathy) Ruston; one brother-in-law, Jim Gilbert of Ozark; and one sister-in-law, Denise Potts of Moore, Oklahoma. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark, with Jason Wilbanks officiating, with burial at Morgan Hill Cemetery Highway 96 in Ozark, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearer will be Payton and Parker Morris, Bub, Jaxson, and Jensen Harris, Jacob Greigo, and Zack Henson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of J.T.’s cousins that he enjoyed growing up with, his morning coffee drinking Buddies, the Dari-Delite Girls and his many, many friends he made throughout his 75 years earth side.
