Evelyn Faye Eaton

Evelyn Faye Bowman Eaton, age 69, of Lovington, New Mexico, was called home by her Heavenly Father on the morning of Friday, January 13, 2023 to reunite with her beloved husband, her precious family, and her friends she lost along the way. She was born December 8, 1953 in Stanton, Texas to Matt Edward and Naomi Faye Warden Bowman. Evelyn was of the Pentecostal Christian Faith and former President of the Women’s Ministries at the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church in Velma Oklahoma. She loved her Lord and Savior and took great pride in serving her church congregation and community. She retired as a Waitress in Lovington, New Mexico where she was loved and admired by her co-workers and her many returning customers. One of those regulars, being Brian Urlacher, a former Linebacker for the Chicago Bears. Urlacher frequented the Main Street Café while he attended school in Lovington. Never was there an empty cup or glass on her watch and always served them up with the sunshine in her smile. In her younger years she was a member of the Singing Mountain Toppers, a family Traditional Gospel group. She traveled with the group to churches and singing events around Arkansas and was included on the Family LP Album “Crossing Over Jordan”. She loved to sing and that passion was passed along to both her children and grandchildren. After she says her hellos and catches up with her family and friends in that Golden City, it’s a guarantee she will gladly take her place in the Heavenly Choir and sing that song that even the Angels cannot sing. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garrie Lee Eaton; four brothers, Donald, Omer, Roy, and Bill Bowman. Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Amy Henderson of Flowermound, Texas and Stacie Ponder and husband Brian of Hobbs, New Mexico; one son, Don Simpson Jr. of Ozark, Arkansas; two step sons, Robert Eaton of Kansas City, Missouri and James Eaton of Calumet, Oklahoma; two sisters, Pat Jeter of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Roselva Villegas of Odessa, Texas; one brother, Elvin Bowman of Heavner, Oklahoma; six granddaughters, Breeanna Inman, Micah Aguinaga, Amiah Ponder, Megan Eaton, Kayla and Kyla Frad; four grandsons, Joshua Ponder, Jordon Ponder, Zach Eaton, and Liam Eaton; and four great grandchildren, Baylin Auguinaga, Grainger Old, Sophia Ponder, Daniel Hernandez-Ponder and one on the way, Alana Ponder. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 20, 2023, at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Full Gospel Temple Highway 219 in Ozark, with Reverend C.E. Simpson officiating, with burial at Mt. View Cemetery 10739 Highway 219 North in Ozark where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brian Ponder, Joshua Ponder, Jordon Ponder, Jacob Boydston, Buddy Boydston, and Bill Bowman Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Warden Jr., Alvin Warden, Greg Warden, Terry Warden, Ricky Bowman, Randy Bowman, Billy Rex Warden, Camron Vancleve, Rene Villegas, Bobby Bowman, Tommy Adams, and Larry Jeter.
