Wilma Nadine Young Dowell

Wilma Nadine Young Dowell, age 101 of Ozark, Arkansas died Saturday, July 10, 2021. She was a cook for the Northwestern School District for 18 years, she enjoyed cooking, sewing and dancing; she touched so many lives and always enjoyed the many phone calls and visits from family and friends. She was born July 3, 1920 in Bynumville, Missouri to Milton and Maria Washam Young. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost 63 years, James Winfred Dowell; a son, James Milton Dowell; five brothers, Gilbert, Curtis, Virgil and wife Helen, Clifford and wife Marie and Cleatis and wife Joyce Young; sister-in-laws; Maude Fitzgerald and husband Bill, Lorene Whitaker and husband Otis, Maureen Pleyer and husband Henry , Donys Bartholomew and husband Harold, Helen Bartholomew and husband Troy and Mary Niemeier and husband Bernard; and a brother-in-law, Russell Dowell and wife Dixie . Wilma is survived by a daughter, Judy Howard and husband Bob of Ozark; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Dowell of Brookfield, Missouri; a sister, Thelma Ross of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren, Rodney Cline and wife Holly of Ozark, Jimmy Dowell and wife Jeanine of Boonville, Missouri; Jamie Dowell of Ozark, Patty Huff and husband Jeff of Springdale, Arkansas, Brenda Baehler and husband Dalvin of Mustang, Oklahoma and Teresa Hay of Yukon, Oklahoma; eighteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday July 13, 2021 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Shaffer Funeral Home with Brother Jan Akins officiating under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday, July 15, 2021at Summerville Funeral Home 601 US-24, Salisbury, Missouri with funeral following at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 15, 2021 with burial at Fitzgerald Cemetery, Missouri Highway “D” Bynumville, Missouri under the direction of Summerville Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Wilma’s great grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.
