William D. Gober, 93, of Ozark, Arkansas, died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in Ozark. He was a rancher, a County Sheriff and Arkansas Highway Police Officer, principle and Superintendent of Prattsville schools, a teacher and coach at Lavaca School, a Navy Veteran, a member of First Baptist Church of Ozark, where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher, Gideons International, Arkansas Cattleman’s Association, Farm Bureau, and Arkansas Retired Teachers Association and the widower of Mary Hillard Gober . He was born September 18, 1924 in Star City, Arkansas, Lincoln County to John and Maude Monroe Gober. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Hillard Gober; two brothers, Monroe and James Gober; and two half-brothers, Otis and Marvin Gober. Dee is survived by two daughters, Mary Dee Thompson and husband Andrew of Ozark, and Alice Ann Bullington and husband Randall of Altus, AR; five grandchildren, Jonathan Thompson of Naperville, Illinois, Daniel Thompson and wife Kristi of Louisiana, Jillian Thompson of Fayetteville, AR, Boone Bullington of Ozark and Blake Bullington of Lisle, Illinois; and one great grandchild, Rhys Thompson. Family will visit with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, September 3rd at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Ozark with Brother Ben Lairamore and Brother Nick Webb officiating and burial at Highland Cemetery under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark. Serving as pallbearers are Jonathan Thompson, John McCreary, Boone and Blake Bullington, Matt Coleman and Dr. James Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dee Gobers Sunday School Class, Richard Armstrong, Bobby Bond, and Reed Haynes.
