Virginia Sells Smith

November 1, 1931 - April 3, 2022

Virginia Sells Smith, age 90, of Ozark, Arkansas died in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 3, 2022. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ozark, a charter member of the Ozark Country Club where she served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer. She loved playing golf and treasured the time spent on the golf course with her friends and family. She was proud of her four hole-in-ones and being awarded the Northwest Arkansas’ Most Improved Golfer in 1985. As she got older, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. Virginia was born November 1, 1931 in Ozark to Grat and Veta Whitson Sells. She was preceded in death by her parents of Ozark and a brother, Harold Sells of Las Vegas, Nevada. Virginia is survived by her husband of 72 years, Kennith Smith of Ozark; a daughter Janet Powell and husband Joe of Ozark; a granddaughter Kendra Mainer and husband Clint of Ozark; a grandson Lance Carpenter of Nashville, Tennessee; two great grandchildren Jake and Ryan Mainer of Ozark, and a niece Pamela Sells Draper and husband Larry of Las Vegas. Open viewing will be Monday, April 4, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Shaffer Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Highland Cemetery with Brother Brad Elrod and Brother Jan Akins officiating under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Greg Powell, Newton Ray Shaffer, Don Ed Shaffer, David Ralph Shaffer, Jack Winston Shaffer, Freddy Ree, Jim Edgin, Lonnie Turner. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Ozark Country Club.
