Mary Lucille Elder Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Lucille Elder, age 90, of Barnes Community, Arkansas died Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Van Buren, Arkansas. Lucille lived in the Barnes Community all of her life until the last three years when she moved to a retirement home in Van Buren, the last year of her live she lived with her daughter and son in law, Hilda and Larry Daugherty in Van Buren. She was a member of Ozark First Assembly Of God Church since the early 1970s where she taught Sunday School and was the Barnes Community correspondent to the Spectator for many years. Lucille was born January 20, 1931 in the Gar Creek Community of Franklin County Arkansas to Onie and Hallie Corder Brown. She is preceded in death by parents; her husband, L.D. Elder and sister, Carolyn Brown. Lucille is survived by two sons, Lionel Elder and wife Maxine and Luther Elder II and wife Shelly both of Barnes; daughter Hilda Daugherty and husband Larry of Van Buren; four grandchildren, Hallie Young and husband Matt, Melinda Crooks and husband Steven, Aaron Elder and Mashayla and Ashli Sligar; six great-grandchildren and one on the way. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Shaffer Funeral Home with Pastors Jim & Regina McElhaney officiating under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home with burial at Gar Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Lionel, Luther and Aaron Elder, Steven Crooks, Matt Young and Monte Canady.
