James Joseph Rofkahr Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James Joseph Rofkahr, 82, of Altus, Arkansas, died Friday, March 15, 2019 in Altus. He was a retired Carpenter, and former employee of Harding Glass of Fort Smith. He was a born-again Christian and a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was born April 17, 1936 in Altus to Joe and Ida Elser Rofkahr. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe, Leo and Leonard Rofkahr; and sister, Eleanor Terpstra. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Burns Rofkahr of Altus; three sons, Jimmy Rofkahr of Altus; Dennis Rofkahr of Denning, Arkansas; and Michael Rofkahr of Ozark, Arkansas; a sister, Marie Holt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a brother, Ralph Rofkahr of Banning, California; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Mary Ann Johnson and Brother Randy Boren officiating and burial at Nichols Chapel Cemetery in Altus under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, March 18th at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Serving as pallbearers are Jim McCormick, Bob Gilbreth, Danny Burns, and Joseph, Mark, and Leonard Rofkahr, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Corey Biggs, Travis Hill, Josh Rofkahr, Jimmy Taylor, J.W. Gilbreth, and Scott Boswell.
