Harland James Bowles, 77, of Ozark, Arkansas died Saturday, October 10, 2020 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born October 2, 1943 in the White Oak Community to Garland and Eula Sinnickson Bowles. He served in the National Guard for 4 years and was a retired carpenter and construction worker for Crawford Construction. Harland was a member of the Jethro Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Joe Bowles; three sisters, Rachel Cooke and Nancy and Betty Bowles. Harland is survived by his wife Kay Waits Bowles of Ozark; one son, James Bowles of Ozark; three daughters; Sara Moon and husband Chris of Ozark, Serena Brown and husband Shane of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Emily Joy and husband Ethan of Frannie, Wyoming; 5 grandchildren, Davin and Akira Carter, Kindra Brown, Ellidi and Elora Joy. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Jethro Pentecostal Church in the Jethro Community with Bro. Randy Wead and Bro. Lamar Joy officiating with burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church. Serving as pallbearers Joey Bowles, David Bowles, Jr., Kelly Graham, Paul Joy, Alex Crush, and Davin Carter. Honorary pallbearers Chris Moon, Shane Brown, Ethan Joy, and the men of Jethro Church.
