Giles “Pad” Smith, age 80 of Ozark, Arkansas died April 22, 2021. A lifelong jack of all trades, he was best known as a fixture at Smith’s Hardware, Plumbing, and Electrical Supply in Ozark for nearly 30 years. He was a well-known commercial fisherman, farmhand, and veteran of the US Navy. Pad was born July 9, 1940, in Cecil, Arkansas to Leonard Jefferson and Carrie June Taylor Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Judy Coffee Smith; his second wife, Bonnie Sue Smith; a step-son, Tommy Joe Harris; two brothers, Leonard Dale Smith and James Smith; and two sisters, Marilyn Elaine Smith and Judy Jane Noggle. He is survived by his daughters Kary Beth Gage and husband Larry of Newnan, Georgia, Kathy Young and husband Brad of Sharpsburg, Georgia and Kristi Harris and husband Jimmy of Alix, Arkansas; two step-daughters, Lesa Harris, Cindi Harris-Stewart, and Cindi's husband Greg all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one brother, William “Bill” Smith of Stockton, Missouri; two sisters, Virginia Hope Nixon of and Patty Wisdom both of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, Ashley Gage-Paz, Emily Gage-Stephens, Jacob, Benjamin and Taylor Young, and Cody Tyler Corbin; and seven great-grandchildren, Vera Gene Paz, Aubrey Gage, Rylie Corbin, Vivian Paz, Colton Stephens, Cali Corbin, and Lexi Corbin; and dozens of nieces and nephews who he thought the world of. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 26, 2021, at Shaffer Funeral Home with Mike Pennington officiating under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home, burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Ozark with a reception to follow at First United Methodist Church.
