Doyle R Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Doyle R. Smith age 88 passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in Bentonville, Arkansas with family and his dog, Sadie, at his side. Doyle was born October 25, 1932 in Caddo County, Oklahoma to Charlie Elmer and Lucy Frances Sloan Smith. Doyle was baptized when he was a boy. As a young man, with a family of his own he served as a deacon of the Church of Richard’s Spur, Oklahoma. He was a Christian man and always tried to live his life by God’s word. Doyle served in the Army and attended Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma. He owned and operated Doyle’s Appliance Repair with refrigeration being his specialty. In retirement years Doyle and his wife, Jane were camp host in Westcliffe, Colorado. From there they went to work for Dolly Parton at Dollywood in Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee. After moving to the Ozark area Doyle took a job with the local gas company. Doyle was quite the craftsman and loved helping family member with home remodels building decks, gazebos, arbors, playhouses, treehouses, doghouses, and bent willow furniture. His joy showed through his work. Doyle is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Jessie, Carroll, Otis Keith, Robert Ray, Eugene and James Floyd Smith; five sisters, Dorcas Finch, Clara Belle Nelson, Mildred Snow, Ollie Dene Smith and Ruby Virginia Nachtigall; his wife of 59 years, Karen Janie Smith; his first grandson, Bobby Roy Houston and his first granddaughter, Jennifer Ann (Houston) Rossiter. Doyle is survived by three daughters, Judy Houston of Ozark, Arkansas, Brenda Reynolds of Pineville, Missouri and Nancy Strazzinski of Neosho, Missouri; a son, Richard D. Smith of Ozark; five grandchildren, Barry, Heather, Sarah, Rebecca and Benjamin; and twelve great-grandchildren, Bobby, Ashley, Erin, Hayden, Gavin, Lexi, Tucker, Savvanah, Charlotte, Otto, Lars and Anastasia. Family held Memorial will be at a later date, cremation arrangements were made under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
