Carol Katherine Wilkerson

February 14, 1942 - October 25, 2021

On October 25, 2021, Carol Katherine Wilkerson of Kansas City died at the age of 79. Carol was born in Charleston, Arkansas on February 14, 1942, to Clarence and Mary Smith. She married Donavon Wilkerson in 1961 and together they raised three children, Jeffrey, Cody, and Tyler. Carol and her husband were both very active in the Colt Collector’s Association (CCA) and life members. She was an astute businessperson and was respected in her areas of expertise. Her active involvement within the CCA included authoring and editing articles for the organization’s magazine, The Rampant Colt, fund raising, and charitable activities with the Elizabeth Colt Legacy Foundation. Her caring generosity also extended to many other organizations, including the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, Smile Train, and Patriot Paws Service Dogs. Carol’s hobbies and interests included travel to historical sites, southern cooking, reading books, and spending time with family and her many friends. Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Donavon, her parents Clarence and Mary Smith, and her brother Cline. She is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey of Lakeville, MN, Cody and his wife Stacie of Baudette, MN, and Tyler and his wife Jackie of Austin, TX. Also surviving is her mother-in-law, Marion Wilkerson of Tulsa, OK, grandson Gavin of Lakeville, MN, and her brother Phillip and his wife Martha of Ozark, AR. Carol’s larger than life presence and inextinguishable spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Family held graveside memorial will be at Highland Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2022. with Brother Brad Elrod officiating.
