Monta Ray "Mack" McClellan

Monta Ray “Mack” McClellan, age 77, of Ozark, Arkansas, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024 in Jethro America north of Ozark. He was born September 30, 1947 in Altus, Arkansas to Monta “Mun” McClellan and Mary Gelene McLaughlin McClellan. Mack was a Vietnam era veteran and served four years in the United States Army. He liked his beer, liked to hunt and fish, and was a successful fur trapper for many years. He worked for the Ozark Water Treatment plant as an operator, Arkansas State Forest Service as a Fire Plow Operator, a self-employed Poultry farmer for 16 years, and was a Union Millwright member of Local 216 working retrofits at Nuclear Power Plants all over the continental United States. Above all, Mack loved his family and was intensely protective of them. In Mack’s final days, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized. Mack is preceded in death by his parents, Monta “Mun” and Mary Gelene McClellan Mack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra McClellan; one daughter, Jill Newsom and husband Chris of Ozark; two granddaughters, Kirstyn Mayner and husband Lawson of Ozark and Caitlyn Newsom of Ozark; one grandson, Austin Newsom and wife Emilie of Ozark; one brother, Joe McClellan and wife Debbie of Ozark; one sister, Sherry McClellan of Ozark; one great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 22, 2024 at Brannon Mountain Cemetery in Brannon, Arkansas, with Brother Randy Weed and Brother Steve Sawrie officiating, with burial at Brannon Mountain Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Newsom, Lawson Mayner, David Fink, David Bowles Sr., Landon McClellan, and George Fink. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Stapp, Austin Newsom, Gerald Parrish, JC Parrish, Paul Stacy, Rich Vunderlich, Kabel Robbins, Sam Wald, Allan Ellison, and Willie Joe Jones.
