Martin Sevenstar, 69 of Van Buren, Arkansas stepped into the presence of the Lord as he received his total healing while entering Heavens’s gates, Thursday, November 20, 2025 in Van Buren. Prayers were answered as he was longing to be with his elders. He was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Richard Sevenstar and Emma Polecat Sevenstar. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Concord Baptist Church in Van Buren, Arkansas and formerly home church BelleFonte Baptist of Nicut, Oklahoma. Martin “Bull” retired from Baldor Electric ABB after 46 years, where he was a large motor repair man. During his time at home, he and his wife enjoyed the outdoors, porch sitting and their mutual love for animals. They especially shared a love for rescued animals. Martin was a very giving soul with a big heart. He spent his life working hard and helping others, no matter what the circumstance. He was an avid bass tournament fisherman. He enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, hunting, singing, cookouts, barbeques, and telling stories and jokes with family and friends. He was very proud of his cultural heritage being a full blood Native American of the Cherokee tribe and a fluent Cherokee elder language speaker. He treasured and valued his time visiting with and learning from the Cherokee elders. Martin was truly a man with a generous spirit and will be missed by many family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Sevenstar and Billy Sevenstar; one sister, Margie Eagle; and one father-in-law, Roy G. Nichols. Martin is survived by his wife of 49 loving years, Rhilla Lynn Nichols Sevenstar of the home; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Nichols of Van Buren; two sisters, Irene Starr of Muldrow, Oklahoma and Anna Louise Vann of Muldrow; one brother, Donald Lee Sevenstar of Muldrow; brother-in-law, Roy David Nichols and wife Janie of Van Buren; one aunt, Caryleen Gambrel; various nieces, nephews, cousins, and double cousins; and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark, with Brother Dale Walker officiating, with burial at Highland Cemetery, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Serving as pallbearers will be Keelan Dunn, Roger Harris Jr., Paul David Nichols, Arthur Salazar, Kevin Dunn Jr., and Kevin Dunn.
