Margaret Frost

Margaret Frost, 87 , of Ozark, Arkansas, died, Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born July 23, 1925 in LaFeria, Texas to Reverend David W. and Emily C. Durrett. She had four brothers and five sisters. She married Leon Frost in 1949 and they had five children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Frost; all of her siblings; one daughter, Linda Kay Frost and two sons, Roy Lynn Durrett and Michael Leon. Margaret graduated Boyce High School, Boyce, Louisiana in 1941. She then began her working career as a young woman. She started working at S H Kress Store in Alexandria, Louisiana, then a switchboard operator at Camp Claiborn in Alexandria, moved to Spokane, Washington where she went to work as a switch board operator, she also lived in Aurora, Illinois and managed an apartment complex there, her family then moved back to Louisiana. She attended Alexandria Vo-Tech College where she graduated with honors and a degree in nursing in the mid 1970’s. Upon graduating, she began working in hospitals, nursing homes, did private sitting for the sick and then retired from Pinecrest Developmental Center in Pineville, Louisiana. She had a very caring heart and loved taking care of the sick and tried to make the patients as comfortable as possible. Margaret, known to everyone as Granny, loved to go to church and worship the Lord. She loved to whistle and liked to sing, though she would say she couldn’t really sing, but would say she was singing to the Lord. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Mothers are like roses that God has put here on earth for a short time. We love you very much Granny. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 14, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lamar Joy officiating, burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Jena Cemetery in Jena, Louisiana. She is survived by two daughters, Emily Kathryne DeVille of Ozark and Michelle Lee Joy of Ozark; six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 W. Commercial in Ozark.
