Karen Dale Vaught

Karen Dale Vaught, 60, of Fort Smith, Arkansas died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at her home in Fort Smith. She was born November 17, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri to Kenneth Dale and Pat Joyce Zolliecoffer Vaught. She was preceded in death by her mother. Karen is survived by her father, Kenneth Dale Vaught of Fort Smith; two sons, Dustin Williams and Jeremy Beck both of Fort Smith; two daughters, Kelly Tamburo and husband Chas of Russellville and Gretchen Williams of Fort Smith; three sisters, Brenda Patterson and husband David, Sandra Caver, and Janice Vaught-White all of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Elijah and Lauren Williams; six great nieces and five great nephews. Karen worked at City National Bank / BancorpSouth of Fort Smith for over twenty years and then was an administrative assistant for Medical Holdings Ltd. Karen was the baby of four daughters. By the time she came along her parents gave up on having a boy so she got the middle name Dale. Her children, grandchildren, parents, sisters and friends meant the world to her. She had such unconditional love for anyone that was in her life and accepted them for who they were. She was known by her children’s friends as the fun-loving, cool mom that let you test her rules. She became a second mom to so many. She was always encouraging, no matter the size of your dream, she would encourage and try to help you achieve it. She loved bargain shopping and if you ever went shopping with her you got tired before she was half way finished. She had a love for antiques and cherished the unique finds she filled her house with. Her love for shopping also made her the best gift giver; she put so much thought into every gift she gave. She was always sure to sign her cards as your favorite daughter, sister or aunt. Karen fought the good fight and never let her cancer or diagnosis take away her faith. She loved informing others about the need for Metastatic Breast Cancer Research funding. Family will visit with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, February 9th at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ted Darling officiating, burial at Houston Cemetery in Alix under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home and Celebration of Life to follow at Lawrence Hall in Altus. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews, Brandon and Bryan Patterson, Nathan, Jett and Caleb Mendenhall, Matthew and Daniel Casanova and Paul Carman Vaught White. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
