Jay "Dylan" Brown

Jay “Dylan” Brown, age 24, of Charleston, Arkansas, passed away, Tuesday, July 2, 2024 in Charleston. He was born June 6, 2000 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Landon Brown and Jennifer Looney Brown. Dylan was a Christian and a member of Bennington Community Church in Shady Point, Oklahoma. He is a 2019 graduate of Ozark High School and a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union Local 656 while working at Dixie Cup in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Dylan enjoyed fishing, hunting, music, humor, razorback sports and being very playful with friends and family. Dylan is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jay Dee Brown; great grandparents, Arthur and Lola Davis, Davis and Neola Brown, Afton and Rosemary Looney, and Thurman and Hilda Hill. Dylan is survived by his parents, Jay Landon Brown and Jennifer Brown of Charleston; his sister, Jordyn Downs and husband Ty of Shady Point, Oklahoma; one nephew, Rhett Downs of Shady Point, Oklahoma; paternal grandmother, Betty Brown of Altus, Arkansas; maternal grandparents, Gary and Patsy Looney of Charleston; one aunt, Lori Kay Brown of Altus; three uncles, Scott Brown and wife Tonia of Ozark, Arkansas, Jason Looney and wife Adriana of Greenwood, Arkansas, and Mark Covert of Altus; and five cousins, Zachary Covert and wife Courtney of Ozark, Jacob Covert of Ozark, Jaydelynn Brown of Ozark, Dawson Brown of Ozark, and Jordan White of Greenwood. Open viewing will be 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 5, 2024 at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Mt. View Cemetery, 10739 Highway 219 North in Ozark, with Brother Matt Stimac officiating, with burial at Mt. View Cemetery, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Ty Downs, Zachary Covert, Jacob Covert, Scott Brown, Kyle Kendrick, and Mark Covert. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jason Looney, Whitney Kern, Dr. David Douglass, Lindsey Miller and Arkansas Children’s Hospital Oncology Department.
