The family of Eula Lea Chancey announces with great sadness and heartfelt love of the passing of their beloved Eula Lea Chancey, who peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the age of 89 years. She was born March 19, 1937 in Cave Springs, Missouri. Eula was a cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Throughout her life, she was known for her strength, kindness, generosity, and the love she shared with everyone around her. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, and faith. She found joy in going fishing, reading books, cooking for loved ones, specifically her famous banana nut bread, and telling Ann Hall what to do. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loved ones. Those who knew Eula would remember her for always making sure everyone was taken care of. Coming into her house, you would feel a warm welcome, followed by, “Have you ate yet.” Or “You look like you could eat.” She always knew how to make someone feel loved by simply caring about how they were and what she could do for them to make their day better. Her love, wisdom, laughter, and presence touched countless lives and created memories that will be carried in our hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her husband Shelby Chancey; parents, William “Lee” and Ila McCalla Peck; one step son, Colby Chancey; four brothers, William “Bill” Peck, Clyde Eugene “Gene” Peck, Charles “Charlie” Peck; two sisters, Alice Peck Emhoff and Florence Marie Peck; two granddaughters, LaTisha “Tisha” Hall- Bartlett and LaRhonda Powell-Guzman; great-grandson, Gerardo “Junior” Vegar-Ramirez and one son-in-law, Philip Bell. Eula leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, Billy Ray Richards and wife Joyce of Republic, Missouri; three daughters, Connie S. Bell of Payette, Idaho, Debrorah Wood and husband Terry of Ozark and Ila Ann Hall of the home; her loving fur baby, Mighty Hall of the home; one brother, Bert Peck and wife Marcella of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Shriley Peck Goodman also of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Michelle Poteaux and husband Christophe of Alexandria, Virginia, Kristina “Kris” Fitzsimmons and husband Marc of Farmington, Arkansas, Stephanie Vineyard and husband Robby of Republic, Missouri, Randall Powell and partner April of Payette, Idaho, Charles “Charley” Hall and partner Amber, Terry Don “TJ” Wood Jr. and Brad R. Wood both of Ozark; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, along with countless others who were blessed to know and love her. Every single one of them adored her. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed her legacy of love, faith, family, strength, and kindness will live on through the generations she helped shape. Her love will remain with her family forever. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark.
