Donald Glen Rice

Donald Glen Rice, age 82, of Clarksville, Arkansas, passed away, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in Clarksville. He was born December 23, 1941 in Poinsett, Arkansas to Harry Ray Rice and Mary Lee Arnold Rice. Donald was of the United Pentecostal faith. He worked in construction and was an apostolic preacher. He was an avid sportsman, an excellent marksman and was competitive in all sports. Some of his favorite things were hunting, skiing, fishing, and golfing. Donald enjoyed time with his son Dewayne on the slopes skiing and fishing with family and friends. He loved the mountains of Colorado, Canada, and Alaska. His greatest treasures were the love of his life, Norma and his children and grandchildren. Donald’s most precious treasure was his walk with and love for Jesus. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lora Rice; two sisters, Freda King and Loretta Conyers; and three brothers, Hullen Rice, J.D. Rice, and L.D. Rice. Donald is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma Ellison Rice; one son, Dewayne Rice and wife Janet of Atkins, Arkansas; one daughter, Sheila Hall and husband Dennis of Winslow, Arkansas; one brother, Vernon Rice and wife Pearl of Coal Hill, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Amy Burton and husband Jack, Joey Pack and wife Gina, Christi Johnston and husband Jamie, Savannah Sykes and husband Michael, and Courtney Ross and husband Wes; sixteen great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the Pentecostal’s of Altus, 110 Miller Street in Altus, Arkansas. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the Pentecostal’s of Altus in Altus, with Reverend Dennis Hall and Reverend B.J. Thomas officiating, with burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lower Jethro Road in Ozark, Arkansas, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Wes Ross, Michael Sykes, Jamie Johnston, Joey Pack, Jack Burton, Jeffrey Yarbrough, Lane Frost, and Kyle Frost. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Troy Don Ellison, Lonnie Turner, Francis Cloudt, James Wyre, Bill Bell, George Hughes, Gary Swanson, Max Peadida, Lee Yates and Jamie Ennis.
