Delilah Jane Ferguson

Delilah Jane Ferguson, age 83, of Ozark, Arkansas, went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. She was born June 23, 1939, in Paris, Arkansas, to Shell and Ressie Mayner Blanscet. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Robert Louis Ferguson, infant son, Robert Hoyt Ferguson, and two brothers, Shell Jr. and Hoyt Gene Blanscet. Jane is survived by four daughters, Tonya Komp and husband Michael, Jimmie Frederick and husband Matthew, Laura Ricketts, Shelly Wilson and husband Larry, and two honorary sons, James Ricketts, Bill Mason and wife Joy; fifteen grandchildren, Amanda, Michael Robert, and Maegan Komp, Branef and wife Amanda, Matthew and wife Melissa, and Bill Patton, Ashley Coy and husband Chad, Amy Hunt and fiancé Bentley Reynolds, Karen and Patricia Ricketts, Heather Wilson and fiancé Ethan Beckham, Brandon Wilson and wife Lauren, Tyler Wilson and wife Jeni, Clarissa Gilbert and Eli Mason; fifteen great-grandchildren, Brady, Sophia, Evan and Mason Patton, Lydia, Jackson, and Marshall Coy, Taylor, Emma, Addy Mae, Makenzie and Kendra Wilson, James Gioja, Amery and Baylor Gilbert; one nephew, Shell Tracy Blanscet and wife Christin; one great-nephew, Cayden; one great-niece, Teigan Blanscet; and three caregivers, Christi Ulrich, Jessica and Rosie Barnett. In life, Jane was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She adored her family and attended many school events, ball games, band concerts, church programs, and rodeos with Robert. She was known to talk at length about her children and grandkids to anyone who would listen. Jane has said her career included her three favorite things; sewing, children, and math. She began her career at the Garan sewing factory and later she was a teacher’s aid at Ozark Elementary School for many years. In 1980 she campaigned and was elected as Franklin County Treasurer, an office she held for 18 years before retiring in 1998. She had an enduring love for children and she has said, “Being a mother was her greatest joy.” Throughout her life, Jane held an unwavering faith in Christ, every Sunday she attended First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). As a member of the church, she served many roles including: elder, Sunday school teacher, board member, and treasurer. She was a steadfast prayer warrior, always ready to send up a prayer and a kind message to anyone in need of comfort and support or praise. Along with watching Jeopardy! routinely with Robert, Jane was an avid reader, gardener, cook, and talented seamstress. In her downtime, she could be found doing a crossword puzzle or writing letters. She was an avid bird watcher, a pastime she shared with her husband. She was fond of crocheting; making many afghan blankets and hats in her lifetime-some of which she won ribbons in the county fair alongside her delicious homemade canned goods. Jane was an enthusiastic fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas Razorbacks. She loved music; especially gospel and country music. Jane liked to watch westerns, Law and Order, and Star Trek. She was particularly fond of elephants. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, March 3, 2023 at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the First Christian Church, 105 North 5th Street, with Reverend Shelly Wilson officiating, with burial at Harmon Cemetery, Rockwood Lane in Ozark, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Branef, Matthew, and Billy Patton, Michael Robert Komp, Evan and Brady Patton. Honorary pallbearers will be all other Grandchildren.
