Bonnie Sue Smith

Bonnie Sue Smith, 74, died, Thursday, September 5, 2013, surrounded in love by her family at Mercy Hospital in Ozark, Arkansas. She was born Sept. 28, 1938, in the Cravens Community to the late John E. and Susie Burcham. She was of the Christian faith and a member of Webb City Baptist Church in Ozark. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 9, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Coy officiating with burial at Morgan Hill Cemetery in Ozark, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. After spending many years as a homemaker and mother to her 3 children, Bonnie went to work at Cargill, Inc. where she retired in 2004. Bonnie fully embraced retirement by spending time with her family & friends taking shopping excursions with the girls, playing cards and cooking out. Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her beloved son, Tommy Joe Harris. Survivors include her loving husband of almost 20 years, Giles M. “Pad” Smith, daughter Cindi (Greg) Harris-Stewart of Fort Smith, daughter Lesa Harris of Ozark. She was also blessed with 3 stepdaughters Kary (Larry) Gage of Newnan, GA, Kathy (Brad) Young of Sharpsburg, GA and Kristi (Jimmy) Harris of Alix, AR. She’s also survived by 6 grandchildren Cody Tyler Corbin of Ozark, Jacob, Benjamin and Taylor Young of Sharpsburg,GA, Emily Gage of Newnan, GA and Ashley Paz of Fort Worth, TX, 4 great grandchildren Riley Corbin of Ozark, Aubrey Gage of Newnan, Vera and Vivi Paz of Fort Worth, 2 sisters Mary Ruston of Ozark and Joann Clift of Alma, 3 brothers Roger Burcham of Alma, Junior Burcham of Mulberry, and Lonnie Burcham of Van Buren, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Millie, who was always at her feet. The family will visit with friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 W. Commercial in Ozark. Pallbearers are Greg Stewart, Larry Gage, Cody Tyler Corbin, Cody Ruston, Jimmy Harris and Phillip Smith. Honorary pallbearers are the nurses of Mercy Hospital, Ozark and nurses of Ozark Nursing Home who gave her and her family loving care in her final days. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Bonnie Sue Smith.
