Alan Christopher Maxey

Alan Christopher Maxey of Alma, 52, passed peacefully at Heart of Hospice Inpatient Care Unit on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He joins his four grandparents, Virginia and Mallory Sims and Winnie and Claude Maxey, in heaven, alongside pets Cheyenne, Bear, Romeo, Princeton, and Dot. Alan was born on June 22, 1971, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In his younger years, he was talented in band and journalism, and loved watching sports. He also enjoyed time with his brother and their friends. He was a 1989 NHS graduate, received his Associates in Applied Science Degree from WestArk CC, and a Bachelors Degree in Business Information Systems from John Brown University. Alan had a 26 year career with Mercy Hospital, first as a Respiratory Therapist and later as a Senior Clinical Business Solutions Analyst on the Epiccare Inpatient Team. He was instrumental in many “go live” events and ensuring that the providers could offer the best care possible for the patients. Prior to that, he was on the IT team. Alan welcomed his daughters in January 2003 and October 2005, and described them as “the greatest gift God ever gave me.” He is remembered as a superhero dad who loved his family, dogs, work, and his Razorbacks. His favorite place to be was at a table surrounded by his best friends. He loved a good bourbon, cigars, rib eye steaks, football, and lazy Sundays with a good post-church lawn mowing. He loved taking his daughters to daddy daughter dances, Easter egg hunts, parent teacher meetings, and concerts. Alan was a Godly man who always said he would give the world for his family, which will not be forgotten. He was loved by so many and will be remembered for always doing his best and caring for others. Alan is survived by two daughters, Abby and Ashley Maxey of Alma, his parents, Ben and Marilyn Maxey of Fort Smith, his brother David (Matoka), niece, Mallory Maxey of Pfafftown, N C, and the mother of his children, Nicole Maxey. Alan’s celebration of life will take place at First Christian Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas at 11am, Saturday, February 24, 2024.
